What should I do if the airline loses my luggage?

Modified on Sun, 2 Jun at 9:31 PM

In the unfortunate event of your luggage being misplaced by the airline, the initial step is to file a claim directly with the airline. Typically, they will offer a small amount of monetary compensation to cover immediate essentials until your luggage is located. Following this, we advise promptly contacting your travel insurer to initiate a claim for lost luggage reimbursement, assuming you have included this coverage in your policy. It's essential to have the airline's report handy for this process, so ensure you obtain one.

Please note that airlines do not arrange for the delivery of your baggage upon its recovery. Instead, you'll need to personally retrieve it from the airport. If you find yourself away from the airport, perhaps on day two or three of your tour, you have the option to either arrange your transportation for retrieval or continue your journey until it's more convenient to retrieve your luggage.

Your Facilitator is available to assist with organizing these logistics, but any associated expenses are the responsibility of the resident. We regret to inform you that we do not offer compensation for any missed tour time due to luggage delays; however, you can pursue compensation for this through your travel insurance provider when lodging a lost luggage claim.

To mitigate such inconveniences, we strongly recommend packing essential items and spare clothes in your carry-on luggage as a precautionary measure.
